East Gwent Senior League - Thornwell Red and White A 0 Severn Bridge 1

PAUL Trask earned Severn Bridge’s first points of the year and their first league victory since before Christmas at Thornwell Red and White A.

Home boss Terry Woodward revealed his squad was depleted with the loss of a number of regulars.

“We weren’t supposed to have a game, because we are out of the cup and a number of our lads had booked to go to a race meeting, before the fixture was announced,” he said.

“We played OK but, yet again, we weren’t good enough in front of goal, but Bridge took their chance with a good finish.

“We camped in their half but couldn’t score. It was just one of those days and it was very disappointing.”

Severn Tunnel beat Undy Athletic 3-0 to progress in the Gill Cup.

“Tunnel took the chances they created,” said Undy’s Ziggy Niblett. “The game was spoilt by the poor pitch at Rogiet which meant we weren’t able to play our normal slick passing game.”
