MONMOUTH Town grabbed a late point in their league match against Ton Pentre on Saturday (20th August).
In their visit to the Rhondda, the Kingfishers started well, having a shot cleared off the line in the sixth minute. Despite the promising start, the visitors conceded soon after, with home number nine Leon Jacka scoring in the 13th minute. The home side created numerous other chances but were unable to extend their lead throughout the game.
With the result all but decided, a late twist went Monmouth’s way. A late challenge on Craig Lewis earned a red card for the Ton Pentre defender in the second minute of added time and a free kick in a promising position. With almost the last kick of the game the ball was headed on by captain Rob Laurie and tapped in by Nick Harrhy to earn the visitors their first points in the league after a 1-0 loss to Caerau Ely last week.
