FOUR goals from midfielder Ryan O’Keefe helped Rockfield Rovers earn their first three points of the season on their return to East Gwent Division One, with a 7-5 win over Chepstow Town 3rds, reports JACOB DEIGHTON.

Ben Wiggins opened the scoring for Rovers before Chepstow responded just moments later.

A quickfire response was then provided by O’Keefe before Rovers’ striker Ben Johnson, made it 3-1 with his first goal of the season.

An incredible four-minute spell then saw three goals, O’Keefe with his second of the game, before an immediate reply from Chepstow, making it 4-2 with just 27 minutes played.

And when the clock struck 30, O’Keefe secured Rovers’ fifth and his hat-trick with a superb volley, Rockfield cruising at the break.

An early second half goal for Chepstow put a touch of pressure on the Rovers backline, but the game was put well and truly out of sight with O’Keefe netting his fourth just after the hour mark (6-3), and then providing the cross for Dave Seymour, who headed home to make it seven.

It proved a strong response to losing to Underwood the week before, with Rovers now heading to last season’s champions Sudbrook this Saturday.

But elsewhere, Llanarth fell to a 3-1 midweek loss at Tranch in Gwent Central One, Kyle Baldwin with a 71st minute consolation from the penalty spot.

Usk 2nds were tonked 6-0 away to Tranch 2nds in GC2 on Saturday, but a reformed Raglan Juniors continued their winning start to life in East Gwent 2 with a 5-1 Saturday home win over Tintern Abbey, Larsson Brown with a brace, backed by strikes from Kieran Knight, Simon Clarkson and Thomas Badham.
