CHEPSTOW 1st XI slipped back into the South Wales Premier 2 drop zone after a tight four-wicket loss to high-flying visitors Ynysygerwn.

Old Monmothian Harry Hughes cracked 83, including a six and 12 fours, in the hosts' 221 all out off 44.4 overs, backed by Ben Hope-Bell with 32.

But the visitors reached 224-6 in reply in 43.4 overs, largely thanks to a 107-run second-wicket partnership between Sam Mogford (43) and Cian Davies (66), with Josh Tregaskes taking 3-35 and Lewys Jones 2-43.

The 2nds were also downed by 67 runs away to Penarth 2nds in South East Wales 3, dismissed for 154 in 37.1 overs chasing 221-6.

Raahi Kumar took 2-49 for Chepstow while opener Malith Madurasinghe cracked 62 and James Bostock 22.

But SEW 12 table-toppers Chepstow 3rds won by 102 runs away to Croesyceiliog 3rds, Paresh Mhamunkar making a magnificent 110 not out off 93 balls, including three sixes and 13 fours.

Brent Harkins also scored 62, including three sixes and six fours, and Luke Webster 40 in their 279-4 off 40 overs.

The hosts were then limited to 177-9, Charlie Harkins, Tom Absalom and Jack Hogan with wicket braces.

Elsewhere Penallt & Redbrook lost a nail-biting Gloucestershire 7A home clash with table toppers Highnam Court by one wicket.

Guy Adams fired 61 backed by Kamaal Mitha with 38 and Graham Hyde 20 as the cross-border villagers reached 203-9 off 40 overs.

But the visitors squeezed to 204-9 with four balls to spare, opener Jason Mosley firing a round hundred.

Vipin Sathy took 3-19 and Hyde 2-42, with the result leaving the hosts third.

In the same division, neighbours St Briavels stormed to a 106-run win at Dursley's Stinchcombe Stragglers, reaching 201-8 before dismissing the hosts for 95 in 30.1 overs.

Opener Will Peters scored 89 and Darryl Reynolds 20 before Tyrone Hoskins took an amazing six wickets for just four runs off 7.1 overs with Geraint Reynolds taking 3-23.
