THE 2026 season proved a memorable and highly successful one for Penallt & Redbrook Cricket Club, with excellent performances in both the Gloucestershire Cricket League Saturday competition and the Midweek League.

In Gloucestershire 7A, the cross-border villagers finished an impressive third with 226 points, showing consistency and determination and producing some outstanding individual and team performances.

Success continued in the Forest Hundred, where they finished second in the table before losing to Monmouth in the semis, who then won the final – a fantastic achievement highlighting the strength and depth within the club.

The club came together for its end-of-season celebration a week last Saturday (August 29), hosting a fantastic evening celebrating the achievements, commitment and hard work of the players.

Club captain Kamaal Mitha presented the captain's trophies and awards, recognising some of the outstanding contributions and milestones.

Individual Achievements:

Bowling – One of the biggest highlights was the remarkable bowling performance of Vipin Sathy, who finished as top wicket-taker in Gloucestershire 7A as well as his own club, taking an outstanding 35 wickets.

Batting – Liam Hurcombe had an excellent campaign, finishing seventh in the league batting table with 483 runs, and his consistency was a major contribution to the team's successful season.

Fielding – Guy Adams was recognised for his impressive fielding and outstanding catches.

Club Man of the Year – Shane Claridge, awarded for his commitment and contribution his club.

Captain's Award Most Runs Midweek League – Cameron Lee.

Captain's Award Most Wickets Midweek League – Rajesh SR.

Special Performance Award – Tom Allan.

Special Performance Award – Kuldeep Singh.

The individual performances, teamwork, commitment and spirit shown by everyone involved made this one of the club's best seasons.

A huge thank you and congratulations were paid to all the players, captain, volunteers, supporters and everyone who contributed to the success.

The season may be over, but the ambition continues, and next year Penallt & Redbrook will be back — stronger, hungrier and determined to go one step further
