REDBROOK Rovers 1sts are into the semi-final of the North Gloucestershire Charity Cup semi-finals tonight (Wednesday, August 26) after an unbeaten group campaign.

Rovers, founded way back in 1908, began with a 2-2 draw at Ruardean Hill Rangers, before a 4-0 home lashing of Lydbrook Athletic

They then travelled to face Lydney Town, where the Wyesiders ran out 7-3 winners, with their reward a home tie tonight (Wednesday, August 26) at home to Yorkley, kick-off 6.30pm.

Rovers, who will be playing in the NG Premier division this season after winning promotion and are sponsored by Sweeney Ted’s, Monmouthshire Show, and The Bell Inn, posted: "The squad has been excellent so far – unbeaten, free-scoring, and full of confidence.

"We look forward to the challenge and urge all supporters to get down and cheer the lads on in this huge home tie!"

Former 2nds boss David Cox has taken charge of the 1sts ahead of the new Premier Division season.

The 2nds concluded their Charity Cup group stage campaign with a fine 2-0 home win over Alvington, but just missed out on qualifying for the last four in their competition.

They started off with a 2-2 draw at Mitchealdean after coming back from 2-0 down, and then found themselves 4–0 down at half-time away to Blakeney before fighting back to 4-3.

While the results were not sufficient to progress, the club was "extremely proud of the standards set across all three fixtures".

"Two impressive comebacks and a convincing victory reflect the quality, resilience, and team spirit within the squad," they posted.

"The players gave their all and can hold their heads high – this level of performance will yield success throughout the season."

Meanwhile, the newly reformed Raglan Junior FC senior team secured a home friendly 2-1 win over Monmouth’s Rockfield Rovers on Saturday.
