South East Wales Division One (Second XI) - Sudbrook CC Second XI (182-1) beat Abergavenny CC Second XI by nine wickets

JAMES Hussey struck an unbeaten 91 to steer Sudbrook Seconds to victory over Abergavenny at Mill Lane.

After home skipper Greg Shaw won the toss and decided to field on a day when the next shower was just over the rooftops, Abergavenny started well with both openers hitting half centuries.

Gareth Powell (58) and Nathan Holley (59) were dismissed after catches by Rob Simmonds and Shaw gave Jon Clements two wickets.

Rhys Pescod (3-32) then struck twice to remove Tom Griffiths and Richie Roberts and although Jimmy Herrick (30 not out) resisted, the visitors managed only 180 from their 45 overs.

In reply, Pescod made 21 before becoming Abergavenny’s only bowling success, Hussey taking his place at the crease.

Shaw (61 not out) and Hussey punished the visitors’ attack and reached 182 in the 35th over.
