South East Wales Cricket League Division One - Blackwood First XI (220-2) beat Usk First XI (219-5) by eight wickets

USK Cricket Club were welcomed by Blackwood for their South East Wales Cricket League Division One fixture on Saturday.

After winning the toss and electing to field, Blackwood inserted an Usk side who made a solid start after the initial early loss of opener Oliver James for five.

The highlight of Usk’s innings was an unbeaten 56 from Alex Head who helped Usk to 219-5 off their alloted 50 overs.

Blackwood replied strongly. After losing opener Jared Withers for four, Daniel Wilkinson came in and hit 102 not out. Together with Callum Herring, with 69 not out, Blackwood secured an eight-wicket win. Tom Robinson for Usk (2-43) took both of Blackwood’s wickets, but his efforts were not enough to prevent a home win.
