THERE were plenty of thrills and spills in an action-packed Sponsors Day at Monmouth Cricket Club.

Junior and senior players took part in a host of fun activities, including an All Stars and Dynamos match and a well-contested softball tournament featuring juniors, female and male members.

There was also a hard-fought six-a-side hardball tournament that included players from clubs such as Sudbrook, Usk and Llanarth.

Unfortunately, the final of the hardball competition did not reach a conclusion after it was brought to a halt by fading light.

However, this did not take the gloss off a fabulous event spearheaded by the club’s sponsorship chief Pablo Nayager, who thanked: Bürkert Fluid Control Systems; Latorre Consultancy; Monmouthshire Building Society; Gwalia Consulting; Monmouth Dental Practice; The King’s Head – JD Wetherspoon; JWN Consulting; MHN Consulting; Clear Change Associates; Middle Please, Umpire.

Meanwhile, Monmouth Cricket Club’s female and male members are now looking forward to a sell-out end-of-season awards dinner at Drybridge House on Friday, September 16.

The evening’s 70 tickets were snapped up within days and it promises to round off a remarkable second-half of the season, which saw wonderful commitment and enthusiasm throughout the club.

To highlight the strong bond within the club, 22 members took part in outdoor training last Thursday, despite all the season’s fixtures having been completed the previous weekend.
