Georgia Howe and Megan Jephcote won their heat of the women's j15a 2x at the Monmouth Regatta last weekend.
The girls were among a number of local successes at the event, which attracted a record entry and featured a good mix of boats and categories.
More than 1,000 rowers took part, include teams from City of Oxford, Exeter, Greenbank Falmouth, Wallingford, De Montfort University and Nottingham, as well as Monmouth School, Haberdashers' Monmouth School for Girls and Monmouth Comprehensive School.
In the Phil Mathew Memorial Trophy invitation 8s, in honour of the regatta's former commentator, Old Monmothians were looking to recapture the title they won in 2011.
Former Minister for Sport and British Olympic Association chief Colin Moynihan was due to attend, as his former Monmouth School crews of 1969 and 1970 held a reunion.
The squad, which also included Moscow Olympics medallist Charlie Wiggin and Oxford Boat Race Blue Paul Marsden, took part in a row past on Saturday.
