THE Monmouthshire Short Mat Bowls Association League concluded with the presentation of the league trophy to this year’s champions Dingestow, who retained the crown finishing the 14-match season with 103 points, 11 wins and 871 shots from 457 winning ends.

Second-placed Caerwent had 82 points, eight wins and 800 shots from 420 winning ends.

Many clubs continue playing through the summer in preparation for the commencement of league action in October and the Autumn Triples Competition.

However, many bowlers will now be turning their attention to the outdoor game with most greens opening within the next two weeks.

Monmouth Bowls Club open their green on Monday (April 13) and will be holding an Open Evening on Monday, April 20.

The club look forward to welcoming anyone who wishes to have a go at the fascinating, challenging, but fun game.

All equipment will be provided along with tuition, so all you need is a pair of clean flat-soled shoes.

Go along and share in the fun from 5pm onwards.
