BLACKROCK Rovers suffered another home defeat in what manager Paul Lovell described as a "lacklustre performance" with "a lack of passion" at the weekend
After losing 2-1 at home to Clydach Wasps on Saturday, Rovers must hope to win all four of their remaining matches – two at home and two away – if they are to keep their place in Division 2.
"There was a lacklustre performance from certain players." Lovell said.
"I thought the match against Wasps was a winnable fixture but despite the importance of the game, the lack of passion from certain quarters only highlighted the reasons for the club's demise this season.
"A strong start from the visitors saw them dominate the first 15 minutes and take a deserved lead
"However, this only lasted a minute before Luke James unleashed an unstoppable shot from 30 yards to equalise.
"Neither side looked likely to score but we lost Ben Smith and Chris Wilson through injuries before the break and we never looked like a threat to the Clydach goal.
"The front line became a poor and feeble force with a lack of effort or will to test the opposition and with time running out, another mistake at the back allowed a Clydach forward a free run at goal to score the winner."
Meanwhile, a Luke Farley (pictured) hat-trick clinched a 4-0 win at Lucas Cwmbran for Mathern FC.
Centre back Gary Baker gave Mathern the lead with a bullet header from a corner before Farley helped himself to three opportunist goals, finishing off good work by Connor Hayden and Alex Jarman.
