We asked readers to tell us about your local heroes and you didn’t disappoint, here are a few people who deserve our thanks.
Jessica Mugaseth says: ‘‘I would like to nominate Louise Gouldingay (and her husband Ben) from Evans of Monmouth. Louise has, in the word of the moment, ‘repurposed’ the business to provide essential (and delicious!) food pick up and delivery service to those most in need within Monmouth and surrounding villages.
‘‘She has worked tirelessly and enthusiastically- ensuring the safety and wellbeing of her amazing team - always leading from the front whilst juggling her family responsibilities.
‘‘She has even made time to check in on friends along her way. Thank you Louise and all at Evans of Monmouth for everything you are doing. We clap for you every Thursday night (your fruit n veg is as awesome as you are!)
Jacky Goodall works in McColls, Wyesham, as a sales assistant there.
She says: ‘‘We are a great team and we are all working hard in this terrible time, but we do like a laugh and keep people happy, my picture is of me cheering the customers up!’’
Chepstow Round Table’s has a campaign of saying thank you to the unsung heroes of the Covid 19 Lockdown. ‘‘First we say a big “Thank You” to the refuse collectors of Chepstow & Caldicot with a little gift. They have carried on their essential duties during this testing time. Thank you Binmen!
Tara Ballard says her local hero vote would be the Spar shop on Kings Fee, Monmouth they have gone above and beyond to help supply the local community with supplies even delivering when necessary. Thanks
Kelly Jackson-Graham says Monmouth truly is full of heroes So many examples of our community pulling together, from picking up shopping/prescriptions, chatting (over the garden fence or phone) and setting up WhatsApp groups to sewing for the NHS, making meals and cakes for others, sharing information and ideas, and displaying artwork in windows. The list goes on!
