Residents and businesses in Chepstow are being encouraged to make the most of one of the town's greatest assets by putting it more firmly on the map as a destination for walkers.

Surrounded by wonderful walking country and with several walking celebrations taking place nearby this month, Chepstow would be ideal as Monmouthshire's first Walkers are Welcome accredited town.

Keen walkers, members of walking groups, businesspeople whose enterprises are linked to walking and accommodation and hospitality providers who welcome walkers are all invited to attend a Chepstow Walkers meeting at The Drill Hall next Friday (23rd September), from 5.30pm to 6.30pm to find out more about the scheme.

The meeting's organiser, Zara Bligh from adventa, Monmouthshire's rural development programme, said: "Monmouthshire is such a wonderful county for walking and Chepstow, in particular, is an important town for walkers, so it would be advantageous to seek recognition for Chepstow as a destination for walkers to visit."
