SIR,
After reading the letter sent in last week by Tudor Greaves concerning the failings of UKIP in Monmouth and the surrounding area, a few things went through my head.
Firstly, I was quite happy to know that the local UKIP association was willing to accept that it wasn't doing well; it's good to know that Monmouth is still very Conservative.
Secondly, I had to take a moment to think and question why anybody would feel the need to vote UKIP in Monmouth when David Davies MP already stands for all the values that a UKIP voter possesses.
Why waste your vote on UKIP when you could just vote for the Conservative MP and minimalize the risk of letting Labour in? Promoting and voting for UKIP will just cause a split in the right-wing and result in neither UKIP or the Conservatives gaining the Monmouth seat, leaving a void which Labour will unfortunately fill.
There's absolutely no need to vote for the candidate which UKIP will field next year, whether it be Derek Rowe again or somebody else, as we already have an MP who's shown his distaste for the EU and worries about mass uncontrolled immigration.
David Davies has proved that he is unafraid to stand up and speak for what he believes is right which, like UKIP, includes wanting a referendum on whether or not Britain should remain a member of the EU.
Like many UKIP voters, David Davies has also displayed little contempt for the double-standards which have run amuck in this country. The National Black Police Association were given a surprise when David Davies turned around and stated the obvious, something that no one else would dare say: that to only allow blacks into their organisation, is blatantly racist.
But nonetheless, thank God that Monmouth is still a very Conservative area where most people can see the negatives of splitting the Tory vote and letting in the Labour candidate. Let's just hope it stays that way.
