MITCHEL Troy Village Hall has just received a big financial boost to refurbish its kitchen.

A £5,000 Big Lottery Awards for All grant, together with £2,000 from the local New Grove Trust, means that the long awaited new kitchen will be installed this summer.

Over the last two years local residents and hall user groups have actively been consulted over what is needed and feasible in the refurbished kitchen. The new range cooker will mean it will be possible to hold fully catered events and the sleek, hygienic cabinet fronts will make the units easy to keep clean.

The first major event to benefit from the new kitchen will be the Village Produce Association Show and village fair. This combined event on Saturday 15th August is being organised for the second time following last year's big success.

The monthly coffee mornings – Coffi Troddi – continue to attract large numbers and the May coffee morning was expanded into a table top sale which was particularly successful. There were stalls helping to raise funds for charity, books, Wye Valley Cheeses, bric-a-brac, toys, crafts and plants as well as the lovely locally baked cakes.

Mitchel Troy Village Hall committee continues to organise events for all age ranges and interests. They are particularly proud of the wide range of regular users from playgroup and brownies, to art classes, gardening, bridge and photographic clubs, U3A and individual party bookings.
