December 28th sees a 7.5 mile walk in the Forest of Dean, mostly on firm forest tracks. The Monmouth Rambling and Hillwalking Club will follow a flat path from Coleford to Milkwall, before passing the remains of a former iron and steel works, where information boards relate their history.
The route takes them through delightful woods, to reach the Mary Rose pottery for a coffee break. From there good tracks take them through forestry to eventually reach the charming village of Little Drybrook, for a lunch stop.
“Further tracks lead up to Ellwood, then on to pass through the Dark Hill inclosure, before finding our return path to the start. New members are always welcome to join Monmouth Rambling and Hillwalking Club. “
There is a small annual membership subscription. A reminder that walkers are responsible for their own safety and take part in walks at their own risk. Suitable footwear and clothing are essential.
