USK Show is taking place this weekend, so here is an insight into what activities are installed for this years event.

The agricultural show takes place on the second Saturday in September and has every year since 1844 by Usk Farmers’ Club celebrating farming and rural life.

The show takes place at the Usk Showground near the village of Gwernesney just outside Usk.

The show comprises 11 different sections with each holding their own competitions on the day. Cattle, Sheep and Pigs compete in the Agricultural Livestock Section are brought by Usk Farmers Club.

There are thriving Horse Show and Show Jumping Competitions as well as Goats, Rabbits, Horticulture, Homecrafts, a Companion Dog Show, Steam Corner and Vintage Tractors.

In their Main Ring and countryside, they also have displays and demonstrations which are taking place throughout the day.

In 2026 there will be The Shetland Pony Grand National to showcase the skill, athleticism and partnership of young jockeys and their registered Shetland ponies. The displays are raising funds for the Bob Champion Cancer Charity.

In the Countryside Ring there will be Little Nipper Terrier Racing with Black Mountain Falconry, Rowan Working Horses, Usk Valley Gun Dogs.

As well as the full day of packed entertainment there will be plenty of stalls as over 300 traders will be attending the show as well as their Craft Marquee, Shopping Mall and Food Market.
