Despite a summer of drought, fire and disease outbreaks, the Usk Show once again saw the resilience of the farming community with a magnificent entry of livestock in all classes.

The highlight of the show was the Grand Parade which, despite no dairy section due to Tb rules and regulations, saw a good cross-section of prize-winners with a wonderful array of Herefords for the traditionalist.

Elsewhere saw entertainment for all with a Shetland pony Grand National race making its first appearance.

Leading the Grand Parade was the overall championship winner, a home-bred Limousin heifer from Graham Sevenoaks of Abergavenny and the Reserve winner was a 28-month old Charolais heifer from Nicky Watkins of Abergavenny.

The Hart family of Monmouth took the Ken Marfell Trophy for Best Breeding Male exhibit with their Hereford, winning Native Champion and Reserve champion along with the Lawrence family from Glascoed who took the Monmouthshire Shorthorn Trophy for best female.

Rhys Cooke of Nantyderry Farm took Sheep Champion with his three-year-old home-bred Blue Texel, reserve went to the Greaney Family of Llansoy with their Suffolk ewe lamb from the Claddagh Suffolk flock.

Champion pig went to the Middle White boar from Dan Impey and Eleri Williams which was also champion at both the Devon and Cornwall shows with Amanda Phillips winning Reserve.

Nia Osborne, Event Manager & Show Secretary said that Usk Farmers’ Club “would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make Usk Show 2026 such a tremendous success.

“We were delighted to welcome approximately 25,000 visitors to the show, creating a fantastic atmosphere and making the day a true celebration of our local community.

“A huge thank you goes to all our visitors, traders, exhibitors, competitors, sponsors, and supporters who joined us and contributed to such a memorable event. Your enthusiasm and continued support are what make Usk Show one of the largest one-day Agricultural Shows in the country.
