A CHARITY Pilates Reformerthon has raised over £10,000 for St David’s Hospice.

PT Pilates held 24 Reform Pilates classes in 24 hours, which took place in their Usk Studio.

The event started at 8am on September 12. The event was opened by Tudor Thomas, Chair of Monmouthshire County Council.

144 people took part in the event altogether, participating at different times all throughout the day. Attendees took part from Usk and Monmouth studios as well as people travelling from different parts of the UK to show their support.

In attendance at the fundraiser was Catherine Fookes MP who joined for a class and Emma Saysell MBE, Chief Executive of St David’s Hospice, who came along with members of her team to support them.

They hit way above their fundraising target of £5,000 but due to the unwavering generosity from attendees they have now raised £10,000.

Jane from PT Pilates, said: “We added an extra fundraising challenge on the way, asking everyone to bring £10 to class. Once their feet were in the Reformer straps, they had to keep their heels together, toes apart and hold onto their £10, if they dropped it, it was donated!

“It created plenty of laughs and helped push our fundraising even higher.

“People were arriving for the 1am class in pyjamas, the 2am class dressed head-to-toe in neon, Hawaiian-themed classes, fancy-dress animals and plenty of pink throughout the event to honour St David’s Hospice.”

Continuing the fundraising, some of their clients visited the local pub after their session with a hospice collection bucket to keep the fundraising going.

Olive and Wine and The Three Salmons helped provide some cocktails from one of their clients and at 2am two bottles of champagne arrived from them to give a little boost towards the finish line.
