A FORMER Monmouth town mayor has died at the age of 73.

Maureen Roach, who has been described as a true Monmothian, died last Wednesday (22nd September) at Nevill Hall Hospital in Abergavenny.

Mrs Roach served on Monmouth Town Council for a number of years and represented the town as its mayor in 1998.

She also served the Overmonnow ward as a county councillor.
