On Saturday 13th December 2025 Mayor Jackie Atkin was proud to present the first cheque from the Monmouth Mayor’s Flood Recovery Fund to the owners of Harts of Monmouth, Carol Davies and Carrie Francis. Harts are the oldest business on Monnow St to be affected by the floods, having been on Monmouth high street for five decades, and it was one of the first to re-open after the flooding.
The process of reviewing 184 Phase I grant applications is now complete and payments to the value of £159,000 are currently being processed to ensure all successful applicants receive funds before Christmas.
Due to the generosity of those donating and the ongoing fundraising activity, the JustGiving fundraising page will remain open until the middle January 2026. However please be reassured that people can also donate before or after this date directly to Monmouth Town Council, if they would like to do so. All cheques can be made payable to Monmouth Town Council or you can contact Monmouth Town Council for further options.
This fund has been a lifeline for many, and it stands as a testament to the strength, compassion, and unity of the Monmouth community, together we have shown what can be achieved when a town pulls together with kindness and determination. Thank you to everyone who has donated to support those in need.”
