Tributes are being paid to a woman who was involved in Guiding in Monmouth for many years.
Gerry Rowland had been running the 1st Monmouth Guides since 1965 and since her retirement has also been running Ranger, Brownie and Rainbow units. She was also supportive of Usk Guides taking them camping with her guides while encouraging others to get their camping licence.
In 2008, a party was held to celebrate her work with Monmouth Guiding Units. At the party, past and present Brownies and Guides entertained everyone with circus tricks and then sat around a campfire singing Guiding songs. The then County Councillor Sue White gave a tribute to Gerry and her husband, David and presented her with a gift from St. Thomas' Church and Monmouth Guiding Units.
Gerry's funeral service will take place at St Thomas Church, Overmonnow on Wednesday 18th February at 12 noon followed by interment at Monmouth Cemetery.
RIP Gerry ‘Go well and Safely’
