A MONMOUTH estate agent has returned from a trip to Nepal to raise money to help re-build homes which were damaged in the recent earthquakes.

Katie Garn, from the Parrys Fine and Country Monmouth office, trekked from Kathmandu to the remote village of Thangpalkot 1 in Nepal recently, in a trip organised by the Fine and Country Foundation. Katie is an ambassador for the Fine and Country Foundation, which was established in 2014 to help reduce homelessness, and has been working alongside Campbell’s Foundation to focus efforts on Thangpalkot 1 to help to rebuild homes in the community.

She and the rest of the volunteers were extremely shocked by some of the living conditions, but also inspired by the kindness of the people they met.

Katie and the team have returned to the UK more determined than ever to help change the lives of the Nepalese people they met, many of whom will become lifelong friends.

Katie is working alongside the project to provide a home for a Nepalese man, Nima Tamang, living in appalling conditions, who lost both his legs to an infection when he was a porter.

Funds are now being raised which will allow the building of a new home to change Nima’s life.
