MONMOUTH pupils have taken part in a fund-raising drive for a church hall with a Young Persons Musical Concert.
Performers from Monmouth Comprehensive School, Monmouth School and Haberdashers Monmouth School for Girls played a variety of instruments including drums, pianos, harps, cellos, flutes, violins, guitars, trumpets, piano accordions and saxophones. The M.C. for the afternoon was Mark Probert and the accompianist was Sian Precious.
MCS pupils taking part included Harry Lloyd, who played the piano and piano accordion and accompanied several other instruments.
Reuben and Freya Pierrepoint played piano and cello duets together and 11 year-old Dylan Probert was on drums.
Their mentor, Mair Probert, who is teaching all of the musicians who performed, was very proud of every one of them.
She said they all gave an excellent performance, one that will never be forgotten. "All the performers were brilliant, and wonderful to spare their time to raise cash for Church Hall Funds," she said.
Some of the older boys and girls, who have recently passed Grade 8 with Distinction on the piano through the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music in London, are now ready to pursue their musical career at university if they so wish.
A total sum of £1,200 was raised to help support the funds for further refurbishment of St. Bartholomew's Church Hall at Llanover.
