Monmouth's Tourist Information Centre (TIC) is now only a step away from moving back to its original site within the imposing 16th century Shire Hall.
A report due before Monmouthshire County Council's (MCC) Economic and Select Committee tomorrow (Thursday 24th March) will recommend the TIC is "wholly integrated within the Shire Hall and becomes part of the Shire Hall management and budget".
Based on the findings of the recent consultation exercise, the report from the Chief Officer, Regeneration and Culture, Kellie Beirne proposes that the present TIC staff are funded from the Shire Hall budget and will be managed directly by manager Mike Booth.
This will save around £57,000 a year which will be reinvested directly into creating "new cutting edge digital technologies at the Shire Hall."
"There has to be room for both a physical and digital presence," said Ms Beirne, speaking exclusively to the Beacon.
