RURAL churches have been warned to look at their security after the theft of an inscribed silver wafer box from a village church between Ross and Monmouth.

The incident happened at Llangrove’s Christ Church, and has led to the church having to be locked until the vestry can be made more secure.

Ross-on-Wye and Golden Valley Police posted: “On Saturday 5th September a nickel silver Wafer box (Ciborium) was stolen from within the vestry of Christ Church, Llangrove.

“The box is inscribed 'In memory of Mary B White 1908-1983' Made by Aristocrat HEPN S.B.

“Local churches have been made aware and will review their security.
