SIR,
The plot gets thicker. The recent headlines on the riots all over the country highlight the fall in Met standards that used to be the envy of the world.
One wonders about the influence of the civil service. I wonder how many jobs depend on the EU for instance?
This would account for the reluctance of the Government to meet their election promise to hold a referendum on EU membership.
It is likely that quite a number of civil service jobs are maintained by the EU involvement (not financially of course).
The big current story is the abuse of House of Parliament credit cards. It certainly deserves much attention.
