SIR,
Marie Curie Nurses are thanking Lions Clubs throughout South East Wales for raising and helping to make the charity's Great Daffodil Appeal a roaring success this year.
During the February and March appeal, local Lions Clubs collected donations across South East Wales and encouraged people to wear the charity's daffodil pin to support people with a terminal illness.
The Lions Clubs of Penarth and Barry, Newport and Usk Vale, Llantwit Major and Cowbridge, Brecon raised an amazing £2355.49 which will help to provide 117 hours of nursing care in their local communities.
Money raised by Lions Clubs for the Great Daffodil Appeal helps Marie Curie Nurses to provide more free care to people with terminal illnesses in their own homes and at our local Marie Curie Hospice, Cardiff and the Vale.
Helen Griffiths, Community Fundraiser said: "We want to give our warmest thanks to the Lions Clubs in Newport, Penarth & Barry, Llantwit and Cowbridge and Brecon for their hard work collecting donations from our generous supporters during the Great Daffodil Appeal. Come rain or shine, Lions Clubs encouraged people to donate and wear a daffodil pin to support people with a terminal illness. The Great Daffodil Appeal is vital in helping Marie Curie Nurses provide more free nursing care and we are very grateful to the Lions Clubs for their efforts."
