SIR,
With the vote on the deposit stage of the Wonastow Road housing development set for Friday 1st July in County Hall, the Stop Monmouth Drowning campaign is launching a petition, to back the efforts of Monmouth Town Council, Monmouth county councillors, and the Chamber of Commerce to oppose this ill-conceived venture.
We, the undersigned, object to the adoption of candidate site CS/0219 at Wonastow Rd, Monmouth – the proposed development of 400 houses and dwellings and the 30,000m industrial and commercial development.
These proposals will have a far-reaching environmental impact on every household in Monmouth, with effects as widespread as increased flooding risks, drainage and water supply issues, traffic congestion, overcrowding in schools, and an increased demand on medical and other services.
Present impact studies have been insufficient, and point to far greater problems, rather than solutions.
Please give the councillors a resounding mandate to win the day at Cwmbran.
Mike Jones
(Stop Monmouth Drowning)
