Other interesting items included a rare George III urn form sugar vase which made £440 and a tiny late Georgian vinaigrette which made £150.

There were a few surprises to be found on the second day of the sale where a vast variety of interesting collectables stimulated competitive bidding throughout. A good collection of early Kingstonian football programmes exceeded all expectations when they sold for £1,150. The group included large selection from the 1920’s featuring a variety of local opposition teams such as Hampton Court Palace and various local charities. They sold to a London based Football Programme dealer after a prolonged internet battle with a buyer from France and another from Manchester.

Another unexpected result on the Friday was when an unnamed 18th century brass sundial sold for £1,850 – once again far higher than had been predicted. A French 18th century violin sold for £860 and a group of fine antique lace made £340. In the toy section an unusual Orobr tinplate clockwork battleship sailed away at almost double its estimate at £150 and two 1960s Sindy dolls sold for £110.
