PARENTS, their excited children and other supporters joined the Monmouth Litter Group organisers at Shire Hall on 6th June to see the posters sent in for the Monmouth Makeover Litter competition.

The crowd browsed the exhibition which contained more than 40 posters from Llandogo and Overmonnow primary schools which made for a superb display.

The winners were presented with their prizes and certificates by Bob Munslow.

He told them that in rowing the Atlantic twice he had loved to see the marine wildlife but was shocked to see the amount of rubbish floating past him.

The competition is part of an ongoing effort to raise the profile of fighting the litter problem around Monmouth.

Jim Handley from the Litter Group explained how they will use the posters around the town to publicise what the children have drawn our attention to.

He thanked individuals in the town who already are regularly picking up litter and encouraged everyone with a concern to help to join the group’s Litter Response Team.
