Visitors to Monmouthshire Show hailed the return of the Grand Parade of Livestock which was the highlight event for many years before the evil finger of Covid pressed the pause button.

The show on Sunday saw cattle, sheep and pygmy goats take centre stage in the main ring for a presentation of prizes for the champion animals, judged throughout the day in the animal pens.

The sun took some time out to allow a respite from the baking weather of the previous week leading to a pleasant day browsing the stands and the attractions the show had to offer, courtesy of main sponsor Monnow Marquees.

Amongst the livestock appearing at the show, the pygmy goats were a hit with the children and the Young Handlers were judged for their ability to control and present their animals - sheep, cattle and pygmy goats - to the judges.

Sheep and cattle of all breeds were a sight and brought the show back to a level of where it was prior to Covid with a grand parade of the winners and runners up, and anyone else that wanted to show their livestock.

Justin Sterry won Supreme Champion with his Limousin heifer, sheep was won by Jack Bodily with his MV Accredited ewe and Claire Franklin won Supreme Champion with her pygmy goat, called…wait for it…. Willow Brae Leonardo!
