As members of Monmouth Action Group, we recently had the opportunity to have a guided tour of the refurbished Shire Hall.
The transformation is amazing, so light and the colours blend so well. Certainly, it will be an asset to the town.
The Shire Hall manager, Mike, was excellent. He knew the history down to a fine art and it made for a very interesting evening.
Having lived in Monmouth all my life, the only memory I have of any work being done is the stone being cleaned.
I believe a company from Cheltenham did the work, but this was approximately 55 to 60 years ago.
At the time I was employed at Milwards shoe shop (now a phone shop) so it has been long overdue for some renovations.
Also, the new railings set it off brilliantly. Well done to everyone involved.
