Former Monmouth School pupil William Hughes is running the Paris Marathon for Macmillan Cancer Support.

He writes: "Four years ago my aunt, a young mother of two, was diagnosed with breast cancer. She battled her illness with remarkable courage and strength, fighting not for herself but for her family.

Sadly, on Wednesday 3rd March she died aged 45. Knowing how she dealt with her disease has been truly inspirational for me and for all those who knew and cared for her.

In memory of my aunt I am running the Paris marathon on 11th April to help raise money for Macmillan, who provided care for my aunt and thousands of cancer sufferers across the UK. Please support my efforts to raise funds by donating via http://www.justgiving.com/william-hughes">www.justgiving.com/william-hughes, or via Lyn Vokes at the Monmouthshire Beacon."
