A gateway roundabout to the town has been damaged again by a large vehicle.

The border of St Thomas’ roundabout at the bottom of town was run over again last night (Friday August 1) by a lorry that turned around there after coming from the direction of the A40.

The Beacon spoke to a local resident who said she witnessed three lorries coming down from the direction of the dual last night and it was the first one that attempted to return in the direction it came from that caused the damage.

“What worries me is that one day a lorry may end up tipping over as it rides up over the roundabout trying to return in the direction of the A40.

“When they were doing the tunnels we had a lot of large traffic coming down this way.”

The roundabout was made more of an oval shape last year but the once magnificent flower displays the council workmen used to create have all but disappeared.
