A WYE Valley-based bookseller was shortlisted for the UK Book Retailer of the Year.

Independent bookseller chain Rossiter Books, which has a store in Monmouth’s Church Street, featured alongside other retailers in The British Book Awards 2026, and although the eventual winner was Edinburgh's Book Lovers Bookshop, it was still an impressive achievement.

The winner is the first-ever specialist romance bookstore in the country and was crowned at a ceremony at Grosvenor House in London last week.

Rossiter, which has been trading for 16 years, was among eight retailers shortlisted in a category featuring a number of internet operators, two intermediaries, two big bookselling brands and the fast-growing local independent, illustrating the variety of channels in modern retail in the Bookshop of the Year category.
