A Monmouth pub that battled adversity following the November flooding and re-opened in March, was forced to close last week for four days following a delivery issue.

Co-owner of the Robin Hood, Claire Beard, told the Beacon that the delivery team refused to restock because the builders put the cellar door on the wrong way and they refused to use the old route.

The cellar was full of empty barrels and the suppliers claimed they could not deliver new stock until there was space available.

“We never get our like for like removed because they say there is not enough room to take them. We ask for an uplift, they don't turn up. So they are just built up to that from the extras they have left behind each week.

“Unfortunately, we weren't in a situation where one person could remove all 43 empty barrels.”

However the pub reopened yesterday after a redelivery took some of the empty barrels and the rest were removed by the pub’s regulars.

Co-owner Claire Beard praised her helpers saying “a huge thank you to a few of our regulars who helped us remove the rest of the empties” and said the bar and kitchen could now reopen.

A Tradeteam spokesperson said, “We have been working closely with the team at the Robin Hood and can confirm collections and deliveries have resumed.”
