THE Ross-on-Wye & Monmouth Sea Cadets and Royal Marine Cadets hosted the Severn District Sea Cadets Trafalgar Parade in Monmouth, celebrating their connection with Vice Admiral Lord Nelson with a parade up Monnow Street.

Led by the Lydney and the Severn District Guard ATC Cadet Band, the parade was made up of junior Sea Cadets aged between 10 and 12, and seniors, 12-18.

The parade was given a marching salute by the High Sheriff of Gwent, Lieutenant Colonel Ralph Griffin and the HM Lord-Lieutenant of Gwent, Brigadier Robert Aitken CBE

as they passed by the Shire Hall on their way to a church service at St Mary’s.

The day ended with refreshments at the Regimental castle by kind permission of the Royal Monmouthshire Royal Engineers (Militia).

A spokesman for the group thanked all those who took part: “ We ‘d like to thank Monmouth Castle for allowing us to use the castle grounds as well as the mess for tea and sticky buns after. Thank you to the ATC from Lydney for supplying the band, the VIPs for supporting the event, the parents for bringing the cadets along (with out them it just wouldn’t happen) and the CFAV who had various roles during the day. Thank you all or as the Navy would say BZ. “
