Inspector Dattani confirmed that Ross has recently been without a dedicated Police Officer during the night hours when residents have made the most complaints about rising crime in Ross. He told the Town Council meeting on Monday, July 9th that the Community Support officers were not allowed to work after 10 pm in the evening and therefore the force relied on a regular Police Officer and a Special to patrol the streets of Ross after this time. However he said that since the promotion of the Ross Officer Jerry Coyd to Hereford there had not been a Police Officer looking after Ross for some time but he told the Councillors that a new officer had been appointed to this role and his priority would be to look into incidents of criminal damage and violent behaviour in Broad Street and Gloucester Road. Inspector Dattani assured the Councillors that Ross is not a lawless town but that Ross has the same problems as any other similar size town in the country. Two high profile campaigns are about to start to address the problems of Anti Social Behaviour and Anti Social Driving. At last week's meeting at The Chasedale Hotel the problems of 'boy racers' at Wilton car park was brought to the attention of the Inspector.
