Monmouth 1st XI fought back well to claim a losing draw against Colwall 1st XI last Saturday (3rd September).
After being set 295 to win, Monmouth found themselves struggling following the loss of early wickets and eventually closed on 245 for six.
Skipper Paul Swingwood (44) began to rebuild the innings for Monmouth, but the Welshmen were indebted to Jon Roberts (59 not out) and Jon Jones (57 not out), who batted positively and put together an excellent partnership.
Roberts was in a particularly aggressive mood as he played with freedom smashing three sixes. Earlier, Monmouth had let Colwall get off to a flying start before stemming the flow of runs slightly.
Oliver Davey (86) took the attack to the Monmouth bowlers, and following his departure Nick Panniers (70) held the middle order together for Colwall.
