THE Young Enterprise team from Redbrook Primary School has donated £40 to a cancer research charity.
Having put together a business plan to make and sell jewellery as part of their studies, the group decided that they should donate a proportion of their profits to Cancer Research UK.
Redbrook pupils Sacha Freeman and Chloe Hayward, with teacher Mrs Evans, presented a cheque to Denise Bowden, manager of the Monmouth Cancer Research shop.
The team of 20 pupils, from Year 3 to Year 6, put together a business proposal to make and sell jewellery, and applied for a start-up fund of £30. They were then organised into different groups – production, management and sales and marketing – and made bracelets and bag charms.
These were sold for more than £100 in all, making £70 profit for the group which called themselves Bead Team.
With £40 going to charity, the remaining £30 profit will go towards a party for the pupils on the last Monday of term.
