SIR,
The charging of our Overmonnow Conservative County Councillor Sue White for claiming her stolen property back from the police is disgraceful (£300 for two quad bikes).
As a public representative, Cllr White has done the right thing to warn us about this police policy.
Prior warnings about this policy, to my knowledge, have not been given by the police.
Surely a phone call to the owner could have stopped the need for storage as soon as property was found?
Where are the insurance companies in this situation?
It is a shame that Cllr White has decided to treat the matter privately from here on in.
The public pay for the police service; transparency is needed.
The public need to know what to expect from future police policy, and how/ why six companies are employed to house such properties.
How have we managed to contain those costs in the past?
