MEMBERS of the highly successful Kingfishers football team, perhaps best known as Monmouth Town FC., are looking forward to playing Welsh League football next season. To mark the club's achievement in gaining promotion for three seasons in succession, Monmouth Town Mayor, Counc Terry Christopher, who has had a long association with the club, held a social evening, when he presented each player with a tie. In his speech, the Mayor said "To gain three consecutive promotions is a tremendous feat, and to attain Welsh League status is a magnificent effort, well done to all concerned. "Over the last three years, there have been individuals, such as Chairman Lee Robson, who have used their entusiasm and skills to drive the club forward. "A special mention to manager Andrew Smith and to the players, officials and sponsors of the club". The Mayor urged the club, over the next twelve months, to "go for it, you will be surprised at what you can acheive".
