SIR The shockingly wasteful plan as part of the new school, to demolish the public swimming pool, with the vague promise of building a new one if funds permit, is counter to the MCC's own aims, expressed during last year's 'consultation' regarding budget cuts of increasing the number of children and young people having local access to swimming. If these new school plans are implemented, could MCC not demonstrate this commitment to providing a continuing swimming facility in the town by building a new 25 metre pool before demolishing the old one, in the same way as new school buildings will be built before demolishing the old?
