Drivers and pedestrians in Monmouth face short‑term disruption this week as Monmouthshire County Council prepares to suspend parking and close a footpath on Cinderhill Street for BT engineering works.
The temporary traffic order comes into force today (Wednesday) and can remain in place for up to 18 months, though the council says the job should be wrapped up by Friday.
Parking bays will be out of action along a 60‑metre stretch of Cinderhill Street, starting roughly 50 metres from Goldwire Lane (near No. 19) and running to The Riverside Hotel. The footpath from No. 17 to the hotel will also be shut, with a signed pedestrian diversion in place.

The council says the restrictions are needed to allow telecommunications work to be carried out safely, and access for residents will be maintained. Anyone ignoring the order risks prosecution under the Road Traffic Regulation Act.
