The National Indoor Arena saw another successful weekend for Samantha Griffiths, when she competed in the Midland Indoor Championships on February 9th and 10th. Samantha went into the weekend still on a high from her achievements at the Birmingham Games last weekend. She had a flying start in the 200 metre final on Saturday, when she broke through the 27 second barrier and won the silver medal in a new personal best time of 26.92 seconds. This exceeded her current personal target and now sets her sights firmly on the English Schools qualifying time. On Sunday she rose to the challenge again, when she chased the Midlands finest in the 60 metre final, coming through to win the bronze medal in 8.23 seconds. Afterwards, Samantha said, "I could not have done so well this early in the season without the help of the team around me, especially my sprint coach Margaret Davies and my sports therapist Barbara Preece, who keep me in good shape before each competition".
