After four sell-out performances, The People’s Fire: A Chartist Tale has electrified audiences in Monmouth in January at the Shire Hall which brought the 1839 Chartist Trials to life in the original court room.
Written and directed by Rhian Hathaway, with original music by Sian Francis, the production took audiences on a thrilling promenade through the Shire Hall. Visitors met Chartists lamenting in the cells, witnessed gripping courtroom drama, and felt the heartache of families in the waiting room.
With a remarkable cast of 18 experienced performers, every moment was charged with emotion, creating a truly unforgettable retelling of the Chartist struggle. Audience members described the performance as “powerful,” “triumphant,” and “utterly captivating.”
