Sue Hughes and Chris Lloyd have returned home after completing their Three Peaks climbing challenge, to raise funds for Manes & Tails Fundraising for Animal Welfare group.
Scafell Pike was the first peak they tackled in what turned out to be very wet and windy conditions. However they managed to complete the climb in 4 hours which was a good start to the challenge.
Ben Nevis was next in line and here the weather was drier but the wind gusts as they got nearer to the top were in excess of 50mph!! Time taken for this climb was 6 & ¼ hours.
Snowdon was the final climb and a time of 5 & ½ hours was accomplished on what was a more pleasurable weather day.
The total time spent climbing on the peaks was 15 & ¾ hours which was a very respectable achievement.
The views from each mountain were spectacular although visibility at the top of Scafell Pike and Snowdon was not good with low cloud and mist coming down. It was in fact an amazing experience which maybe we should have tackled more like 50 years ago!!!
Money raised so far exceeds £1,100 and any further donations would be very much appreciated at: - https://gofund.me/c5dbecfc
Manes & Tails will be attending Usk Show (Stand C1) this coming Saturday and would love to see new and old supporters who are visiting the show
