SIR,

Less than 25 per cent of the population of Wales voted for the Welsh Assembly in the first place.

The Welsh Assembly is dominated by the Labour party and the Welsh nationalist, both of which have politics based on failed ideologies.

The socialist ideology of the Labour party failed spectacularly in the UK when the Labour government led by the Blair/ Brown combination almost bankrupted the country and tried to destroy our way of life with multicultural politically-correct policies.

Any nationalist ideology is very dangerous, especially when given power. Check out history.

In the present day the exclusion of non-Welsh speakers from medium to high level public service jobs is already being practiced by stealth and this type of policy is also being applied in many other areas.

For those who remember, members of this party once supported the burning of homes owned by non-Welsh owners.

In Monmouth, we have some experience of how the Conservatives run local government (MCC) and the most I can say in writing is that it does not inspire confidence in their ability to manage, although in Monmouth we have one of the best MPs in Westminster.

The rest of the political parties are in no position to influence policy in the Welsh Assembly so could not change anything if they all voted together.

A vote to give extra powers to a body dominated with this type of ideologies will not be good for democracy or for advancing living standards of the people of Wales.

It must be remembered that politicians are a bit like an infestation – easy to pick up but very hard to get rid of.

So vote no to stop the tail wagging the dog.

In response to the lady who accused me in her letter of using education to make a political point, I ask her to please check the facts and the education international league tables.
